TEACHING RECAP

Summary: God has graciously given us every resource we need to live with courage. His provision stirs our gratitude, his promises form our vision, and his presence powers our courage. In Joshua 1, God tells his people to be strong and courageous—not because the path is easy, but because he will be with them wherever they go. The same is true for us today.

Main Points:

  1. God’s provision stirs our gratitude.

  2. God’s promises form our vision.

  3. God’s presence powers our courage.

On-Ramps:

  • Take time this week to name what God has provided and thank him.

  • Meditate on God’s promises—and let them shape how you walk forward.

  • Take a courageous next step in the direction God is leading—knowing he is with you.

Discussion

  • What stands out to you from this passage? How does this passage most challenge or encourage you?

  • In verses 1–2, God tells Joshua it’s time to move forward. What are some ways you’ve seen God provide for you in the past—and how might gratitude give you courage now?

  • “Be strong and courageous” is repeated often. Where in your personal life do you most need that kind of courage right now?

  • Our culture often values safety, control, or comfort. How does this passage challenge the way our society thinks about risk and courage?

  • As a church, where might God be calling us to take a bold step together? How could we encourage one another to move forward in faith?

  • How do you want to respond to this passage in your daily life?

PRAYER

  • How can we pray for you as a group?

  • Next week: 2 Timothy 1:6-12

  • REMINDER: We’re taking a break from discussion guides for the summer. We’ll start up again beginning Sunday, September 7th. Have a great summer!
