Discussion

  • What stands out to you from this passage? How does this passage most challenge or encourage you?

  • How do you think the phrase “love must be sincere” sets the tone for the rest of the passage?

  • Can you think of other parts of the Bible that talk about the covenantal love of God and describe what that looks like?

  • What would our neighbourhoods or workplaces look like if these verses shaped the way people related to each other? What would change?

  • Which part of this passage do you think is most needed in our community or society right now?

  • Think of a recent situation where it was hard to “bless and not curse.” How could these verses have shaped your response differently?

  • How do you typically respond when someone in your life is suffering? Or rejoicing? How might this passage call you to grow in compassion and presence?

  • How do you want to respond to this passage in your daily life?

PRAYER

  • How can we pray for you as a group?
