TEACHING RECAP

Summary: What do you do when life feels like a battle you can't win? Following God doesn't mean the road will be easy, and sometimes the greatest challenges come when we're trying to move forward. But what if God's presence is more certain than we realize? Discover what it means to face life's battles with courage, faith, and the confidence that you're not alone.

Main Points:

  1. Depending on God means courageously stepping into the battle.

  2. Depending on God means continually turning toward him in prayer and worship.

  3. Depending on God means giving and receiving support from others.

On-Ramps:

  • Step into something you've been avoiding.

  • Make prayer and worship your first response.

  • Be honest with someone about your struggles.

  • Keep your eyes open for those who need someone.

Discussion

  • What stands out to you from this passage? How does this passage most challenge or encourage you?

  • Have you ever experienced spiritual attack in a season of following God? How did you see God’s faithfulness and trustworthiness in that time of attack? Are you facing any type of ‘attack’ in your life right now?

  • Is there any area in your life you feel you need deeper prayer for? Have you asked others to prayer for you? If so, how did that change the situation? How did it change you? If not, how could you take a step toward that in the future?

  • How have you set Jesus as your ‘banner’ in your life? What ways have you structured your life so that you can consistently see Jesus and his call on your life above all the other voices? Take a few minutes to share those as an encouragement with others.

  • Read Hebrews 4:14-16. What picture of Jesus do you see in this passage, and how does it change the way we approach God when we're weary or struggling? How does this teaching shift the focus from simply trying harder to depending more deeply on Jesus?

  • How do you want to respond to this passage in your daily life?

PRAYER

  • How can we pray for you as a group?
